Donating Furniture in Orange County, CA [2021] | 👉 Who Will Pick Up and How to Donate

Whether you’re redecorating, just moved somewhere new, or are going through a life change, you might find yourself ready to donate furniture in Orange County. Problem is, furniture isn’t the easiest thing to move. So while you may be ready to redesign your space, you have to get rid of your current furniture. You could ask your neighbors to help you load your stuff into the trash, or wait until bulk pickup and leave it on the curb, but donating is a lot better. Giving away furniture in Orange County can help both you and someone else, which is a great way to recycle your current furniture!

There are plenty of reasons why someone will want to donate furniture. Maybe you enjoy helping those in need. Or, maybe you’re an advocate for reusing and recycling to help the environment. Or, maybe you just don’t want to lift all that heavy furniture and lug it down the steps. Whatever your reasons, a charity that will come and pick up the furniture for you makes things easy on you. Another great benefit is you can use furniture donation in Orange County as a tax write-off! You have to appraise your furniture fairly, grab a form from the charity, and file it with your taxes. Just make sure you’re charging fairly for your furniture to make it a proper write-off. This is how much a person would pay today for the item in its current condition. You can find more information on the IRS website here.

Not all charities accept furniture donations, and some accept small furniture but not large furniture. So, how do you know which charities will pick up your items and which ones will accept over-sized furniture, like entertainment centers? Our Orange County furniture donation guide will give you the top-rated charities to choose from:

SORRY WE DO NOT OFFER FREE PICKUP OF FURNITURE FOR DONATIONS.

They do not accept baby items, outdated electronics, or anything that needs to be cleaned. To see the full list of acceptable and not-accepted items, click here. You can drop off your items at their warehouse on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm. The Salvation Army Anaheim – Furniture Donation Pick up for 100 Years

The Salvation Army is one of the most popular thrift stores in Orange County. They work with those who are struggling with various addictions. They use their donations to help those who are homeless, as well as to sell and make money to fund their programs, like rehab, therapy, and more. Gently used and new furniture is accepted here, so if you have an item that is old, damaged, or no longer works, this isn’t the place to take it. However, there are some furniture items they can’t accept, and you can view those here. If you have furniture, but it’s not bulky, like a couch or bed, you will have to take the donation straight to one of their drop off centers. However, if you do have bulky items, you can schedule a pick up with them. This is something you’ll want to do at least a few days in advance because they can be a bit backed up. To schedule a pick up to donate furniture to The Salvation Army in Anaheim, call (714) 238-2444.

Habitat for Humanity Orange County ReStore – Building Homes

Habitat for Humanity is a great charity because they work with low income individuals and build homes for those who may not have been able to afford it otherwise. Due to this, they accept much more than other donation centers. If you have bulky, like-new furniture, they’ll accept it here. On top of that, they also accept construction supplies, which is great if you’re finishing up a remodel. You can view what they do and don’t accept here. You do have to make sure that the item is in good working condition, whether it be an appliance or a couch. To donate, you can drop it off at the Anaheim Habitat OC ReStore location Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Santa Ana Habitat OC ReStore location Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also schedule a pick up if you are making several large item donations by calling (714) 434-6202 at least a week in advance.
